2003 Fly-In poster

Challenger 20th 2 Place

Friday morning people started to arrive and the excitement began
as we looked up and in flew a float equipped Challenger, followed by many
other aircraft thru out the day.
At the camp fire Friday evening 65 people were present for the
cook out and entertainment around the fire. A special thanks to the
committee who put it all together. Everyone helped us to celebrate Jim's
birthday as he told jokes and sang a few songs with his daughter, Amy.
Saturday donuts, juice and coffee started the day and a total of
36 Challengers were on the field.
J.D. Stewart flew the farthest at 382 miles from Norfolk, Nebraska.
There was 6 planes from the Wautoma Wisconsin area and 1 from
Sharon, Wisconsin.  They flew in from Missouri, Wisconsin, Iowa, and
Illinois.  Many other pilots joined us for the celebration.
Two tours went to the factory through out the day.
We enjoyed food cooked on site from Danny Boys all day.
Everyone enjoyed looking at each others planes.  We had over 15
dealers present from across the United States.  Peoples choice plane was
Dave Bura, a white Challenger with red and blue stripes with Hirth
engine.  2nd place went to Dave Orme, a white Challenger with Burgundy
stripes.  3rd place went to Dennis Dyer, a white single place Challenger
with red orange and yellow stripes.  Presidents choice was Mick
Schumacher, his Challenger is white with purple and gold stripes.
Challenger owners drove in from Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas,
Tennessee, New York, and surrounding states.
Saturday evening at the campfire there was 75 people who enjoyed
the cookout and fireworks.
At 5:45 Sunday morning the first pilot took off after eating
breakfast burritos.  Sunday by 12:00 everyone had flown toward their home
bases. One by one we heard back from our visitors that they had arrived
home safely but had ran into some winds.
We would like to thank everyone for coming to the fly in and
making it a successful week end We could not pull this off without you
guys flying and driving in.  As always we salute those who were able to
fly in,  as your planes made the week end a success!
Most of all lets thank Dave Goulet and the Challenger team,
without them this week end would never have been possible
Looking forward to next year Jim and Sue at an eerie place.

Friday Evening Activities

Some flyers and campers started arriving around 5 PM

Wasn't long before the temp lowered and hunger set in

The sun said Saturday would be nice.

Everyone started heading to the south end of runway.

Bonfire and butterfly porkchop sandwiches, and burgers.

Hey it's a electronic age we live in so a laptop fits in.

Mike Housenga helps Kevin Lee prepare the meal.

When ready we didn't have to tell them twice.

Darlene Bornhoeft was there as always helping out. She's one great lady.

Jim sang a few songs....

And daughter, Amy helped with a song.
