Jim & Sue:

I thought I would spill out my heart for such a wonderful visit. I tried to word this in a way that you could post on your site. I would like for others to know what I have to say. I will sure be telling the guys back home about Erie Airpark.

I finally got the chance to visit Jim and Sue Robinson while on a business trip to Cedar Rapids Iowa. Jim and Sue are the most down to earth, give the shirt off their back, hardworking, (overworking sometimes) and patriotic people I have ever met. I almost envy them for what they have accomplished. I wont go into the detailed story about how Erie Airpark came to be but I will say this. Jim and Sue made a big gamble and huge sacrifice to make a dream come true. I know from growing up in aviation that it is a volatile hard business to stay in and not go bankrupt. Jim is a hardcore TRUE artist and has the determination of a mad fire ant. These people make huge sacrifices for the promotion of aviation from all realms of flight. Jim is very concerned about his "performance" as a dealer and airpark manager. He wants to know if he is doing a good job. Folks, I'm sure you have, but pat him on the back once in a while and tell him he is doing a good job. It will put a huge smile on his face. Jim and Sue "Take Care" of their tenants AND VISITORS!! It embarrasses me because all I have to say about my home airport (public 0J6) is negative things. Jim runs a tight shift and is all about safety. I have known Jim and Sue for a year now and have a new found respect for these two wonderful people. Short of taking the food out of my kids mouth, I would now do anything for these folks if so needed. Jim and Sue put up with my constant phone calls over the duration of my own Challenger project. They spent a long time with me on the phone. Had I known how busy Jim was, I would not have taken so much of his time. Nevertheless, Jim never wavered from helping me through. A lot of what went into my airplane is what came from Jim and even Sue. I regret that I did not get a chance to stay longer. Jim took me flying, gave me some GOOD free advice on flying a Challenger and some safety tips that I need to do and will do. I have never in my life seen a private airport with everything you need. Heck, our FBO pilot lounge is always locked up tight. The only thing at my airport that is open is the bathroom. AND IF YOU EVER COME THERE YOU BETTER BRING SOME TOILET PAPER!!!!! I need to make sure that gets in the NOTAMS for 0J6. I told Jim all he needed was a rotating beacon and some runway lights. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I and maybe even my family can make the Challenger fly in this year. I regret also that I live so far away from Jim and Sue.
It is so rare that you come across a family such as the Robinsons. They have 3 beautiful daughters and about to have 3 beautiful grandchildren.  The Robinson family is a VERY close family. Very loving! Not afraid to say "I Love You" and give affection. Thanks again Jim, Sue, Amy, and MR BILL HAHAHAHAHA!!! Francine is her name I believe. I am proud and honored to have you as my friends. You are welcome in my home Anytime. Even if I am not there. I hope all goes well with your new family addition and you will be in my prayers for Amy.

For anyone reading this coming up from the South. JIM HAS GRITTS IN STOCK!
The only person I have ever met North of the Mason Dixon line that will eat and even knows what a "grit" is.

GODSPEED ROBINSONS!

As you can see Shannon had a great time checking out the Challengers that we are building  here.  Shannon said when we drive down to see our oldest daughter, Melaina we
can stay over night at his place.  (He is on the way). Sue and I enjoyed his visit.

Please note that the nose cone and wrap around lexan is only temp installed so I could get an early start on my inst. panel and get the doors built. I need to trim the windshield a grunt more too. This is a Challenger II Standard with high side rails option. It will be powered by a Rotax 503. I am still waiting on the engine, the brakes, and the shackles. I will send more later when it is almost done. So far I got 105 hours logged on this project.

Last two pictures:
This is my NIGHT VFR CLUSTER. Pictures do NOT do it justice. I made some
mods to cut down on the glare. It is MUCH better now. My dimmer pot
burned up. Don’t get one from Radio Shack! I will need to find a bigger pot like
those in a car. The only thing I got to do now is make the panel
labels and put the correct numbers in the wires.
