When ready pull off gears lay on side om Saw horses.

This plane needed a panel behind nose cone to smooth skin transition.

Jim places the plate in place to shape and alighn.

Larry helps drill as Jim holds piece in place.

Joe assists by riveting and taping.

Jim starts applying Poly Tak mixed with MEK so that it is syrup like.

Making sure that the glue is on the side and top of tube.

Joe starts on the tail section.

Once glued the fabric is sized.

Clamps are used to hold fabric in place.

Glue is now applied on top of fabric where fabric wraps tube.

Excess is trimmed.

 

Tail section curves in and some fabric wrinkles.

Fabric is slitted to go around curves and glued.

Aircraft turned over and glue applied to tubeing.

Skin is not applied tight. It could bend tubeing when heating.

Excessive fabric trimmed from this side.

Top of fabric is glued and allowed to dry.

Set iron for 200 degrees the first time over fabric.

Second time at 250 then touch up glued edges.

Make sure that all wrinkles are heated but don't overheat.

Put gears back on and set on floor.

Jim uses a liner for cockpit area to smooth skin and insulate.

Fabric is then sized for back half of Aircraft.

Fabric is clamped in place.

At engine bay bulkhead don't glue on sides, only aft side.
