Steve's Challenger  received 2nd place Grand Champion - Light Aircraft

Darrin Jackson (my flight instructor, Jackson Flight Services) was piloting my Challenger for the light aircraft manufacturer’s flight demonstrations.  He WOW’d them all !!!!!!.  Gary Weaver and I also received awards. Weaver received a workmanship award for his Challenger and my Challenger received 2nd place Grand Champion Light Aircraft, First place went to a JUST Aircraft Highlander.   Steve Dentz

Few more things got done today, doors painted and install, door latches installed, and windshield. I've only got 5 items left on my to-do list.

The fuselage basic colors are complete. The paint scheme looks like something I'd put on one of my R/C models, colorful! On to the wings!

Note the gas filler access hole.

Saturday June 4, 2005

Started painting the silver undercoat this afternoon, what a piece of cake with this turbine HVLP unit I just got.  Boy you can really see your sins when the silver goes on.  I'll need to do a little smoothing with the hobby iron to take out some small wrinkle I couldn't see with only the pink filler. I should have fuse and tail surfaces done by Sunday evening if I don't have too many mistakes to fix!!!!!!

More pictures of the building progress.

Only a couple things to do and I can start covering. YAHOOOOO!!!

Completed the fabric attachment plate for the nose cone, instrument panel (except for the labels), heater  ducting, ELT and switch, battery bracket, regulator, and firewall and quick disconnects. Really close to permanently attaching the nose cone.
